When I Loved Myself Enough

When I loved myself, I understood
that anguish and suffering are only warning signals
that I am living against my own truth.
Today, I know this is called BEING TRUE TO MYSELF.

When I loved myself,
I realized how much I can hurt someone
by imposing my own desires on them,
when the time isn’t right and the person isn’t ready,
especially when that person is myself.
Today, I call this RESPECT.

When I loved myself,
I stopped yearning for a different life,
and suddenly saw that the life surrounding me now
provides all the opportunities for growth.
Today, I call this MATURITY.

When I loved myself,
I understood that under any circumstances,
I am in the right place at the right time,
and everything happens at exactly the right moment.
I can be calm always.
Now, I call this SELF-CONFIDENCE.

When I loved myself,
I stopped stealing my own time
and dreaming of grand future projects.
Today, I only do what brings me joy and makes me happy,
what I love and what makes my heart smile.
I do it my way, at my own pace.
Today, I call this SIMPLICITY.

When I loved myself,
I freed myself from everything that harms my health—
food, people, things, situations.
Everything that pulled me down and led me away from my own path.
I once called this healthy selfishness.
Today, I call it SELF-LOVE.

When I loved myself,
I stopped always needing to be right.
And that’s when I started making fewer and fewer mistakes.
Today, I realized this is HUMILITY.

When I loved myself,
I stopped living in the past and worrying about the future.
Today, I live only in the present moment and call this
WHOLENESS.

When I loved myself,
I realized that my mind can hinder me,
that it can even make me sick.
But when I connected it with my heart,
it became my valuable ally.
Today, I call this connection
WISDOM OF THE HEART.

We no longer need to fear arguments,
confrontations, or problems with ourselves or others.
Even stars collide,
and from their collisions, new worlds are born.
Today, I know this is LIFE.
